Milton Perry Tolle, son of Rachel Jane (Davis) and Elijah Tolle, was born 31 Jul 1843 in Adams County, Ohio. He served in the Civil War in Company I, 182nd Ohio. On 29 Nov 1866 he married Adaline Wilson Black. She was born 9 Apr 1848 in Adams County, Ohio, the daughter of Lydia (Smith) and Zachariah Black. Milton's occupation was listed as a cooper in the 1870 census of Adams County. Sometime between 1870 & 1880 he moved his family to Wilson County, Kansas where he was found on the 1880 census. From the births of their eight children, if my data is correct, they moved from Ohio to Kansas and then Rockford, Illinois and back to Kansas. Milton died 23 Sep 1887 at the age of 44 years, 1 month and 23 days, and is buried in the Morehead cemetery in Neosho County, Kansas (located 1 mile west of Morehead in Shilo Twp). His tombstone gives his complete name and death date, age at death and military data. His grave is marked by a headstone, a foot stone and a military star marker. Adeline applied for his Civil War Pension on 12 Mar 1891 (application #506259 and certificate #341081) She moved to Blaine County, Oklahoma and on 5 Aug 1902 she married there to James Henry Gable Humphreys. It was the 2nd marriage for both. His daughter later married one of her sons. Adaline Wilson (Black)(Tolle) Humphreys died in Blaine County, Oklahoma on 2 May 1915 and is buried in the Richland Cemetery, Geary, Blaine County, Oklahoma.
