GEORGE D. TOLLE6 (Stephen5; George Sr4; Roger3; Tobias2; Roger1)

George D. Tolle, son of Mary (Dyson) and Stephen Tolle, was born about 1805 in Fauquier County, Virginia. He married on 3 Nov 1832 in Mason County, Kentucky to Lucinda Staggs. They were married by Samuel Helms, and the bondsman was Enoch F. Staggs. Lucinda was born about 1805, duaghter of Malissa (Burns) and Samuel Staggs. He was on the Mason County census for 1830, and the tax lists of 1826-1835. He moved to Buchanan County, Missouri sometime before 1846. During the years of 1846 through 1850 he appeared as witness or security to the wills of several people in Platte and Buchanan Counties. George was found in the census records of Buchanan County in 1850 through 1870. His occupation was listed as School Teacher. He was named as an heir in his father's will of 1863-1869. He seemed to be considered a respectable citizen, because in a letter that Kit Karson wrote to General Fisk on 11 jun 1864, George D. Tolle was referred to as a reliable person to contact for verification of his (Kit's) claims about conditions of that area during the Civil War. He was also mentioned in the Draper Collection, and some Staggs probates. It isn't known at this time just when he died, or where he is buried.

The children of Lucinda (Staggs) and George D. Tolle were:

  • JOSEPHINE TOLLE7 born ca 1835; married THOMAS NEWTON TOLLE.
  • MARY B. TOLLE7 born ca 1838; unmarried at age 31 in the Buchanan County, Missouri census.

  • GEORGE M. TOLLE7 born Jan 1845; no info after 1870 Buchanan County, Missouri census.

THOMAS NEWTON TOLLE6 (Stephen5; George Sr4; Roger3; Tobias2; Roger1)

Thomas Newton Tolle, son of Mary (Dyson) and Stephen Tolle, was born 26 Jul 1807 in Fauquier County, Virginia. He married a woman named Eliza Susan before 1829. Unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of data found for Thomas Newton. There was a Newton Tolle on the 1830 tax rolls, and there is a deed for him in 1837-1838. He died 14 Nov 1839 and was buried in the Tolle cemetery on Route 1237, in Lewis County, Kentucky. In 1840 there was a Susan Tolle living next to Stephen who may have been the widow of Thomas Newton Tolle, and in 1845 an Eliza S. Tolle married George Purcell, in Mason County, Kentucky. Perhaps this was her.

The children of Eliza Susan (?) and Thomas Newton Tolle were:

MARY TOLLE6 (Stephen5; George Sr4; Roger3; Tobias2; Roger1)

Mary Tolle, daughter of Mary (Dyson) and Stephen Tolle, was born about 1820 in Lewis County, Kentucky. She married William G. Lyon on 5 Apr 1841 in Mason County, Kentucky. Their bondsman was Stephen Tolle. Mary died about 1844, probably at the birth of her second child. Her two children were heirs to her father's estate.

The children of Mary (Tolle) and William G. Lyon were:

  • CHARLES S. LYON7 born ca 1843 Mason County, Kentucky.
  • PRESHA EUSEBIA LYON7 born ca 1844 Mason County, Kentucky.
